Beacon Bento

After a lazy Saturday morning spent eating toast, drinking tea, shopping and witnessing aggro drivers in the 99-Cent Store parking lot, June-chan and I shared a tasty lunch at Beacon. My iced green tea was the best as it was made with maccha powder instead of tea leaves. The ice cubes diluted the bitterness of the maccha, which I've only had in traditional tea ceremonies. June and I broke all tradition as we nibbled on a green bean salad with smoked tofu and red onions. The bento box took up nearly the entire table for two. The grilled chicken was a little dry, but the seared albacore and grilled cod with miso sauce were stellar. I'll have to drop by for dinner one night so that I can sample the sake list, including one that the chef imported from his home town in Japan.
